Cultures and subcultures


Subcultures and urban tribes are more common in large cities or metropolises, where the complexity and sheer size of the city and society create a sense of isolation alignment or individual level. This in effect can lead to formation (official or unofficial) of urban tribes whose members are united under one set of characteristics, thoughts, trends and common interests to form a relatively small community, but with its own identity.


Being part of an urban tribe involves looking at the ways congeners think and feel similar to their own, sharing an urban culture, without necessarily being aware of it. The pleasure of belonging to an urban tribe comes from the suspension of the requirement to accommodate an adult or social universe and its rules of thought and behavior.

Influence of urban tribes in the globalization of culture


One way or another, all part of a tribe. All we include us in a particular social group in which we have grown: a neighborhood, a class, a family, a football team. Thus were born all urban “microcultures” that populate the western world and thus succeed each other.

Enefited and enriched the relationship between passionate about "something" from one end of the planet to the other, and the emergence of new tribes. Heavies, neo - hippies, metalheads , otaku , geeks , goth, rappers ...

Faced with this phenomenon, the public has shown an increasing level of concern, but do not have, at present, with an interpretative battery problem that contributes to characterize and understand in depth the phenomenon subscribed .

In that sense, the few approaches to this type of youth attitudes come - generally - the dominant discourse that exists around these groups, ie the police inquiries or media, were the tendency is to label them under the stigma crime, drug abuse, violence and youth gangs.
